Hillyer’s of Lincoln Limited
started as a small bakery in Lincoln, Christchurch
in 1967 by Bert and Irene Hillyer.
It didn’t take long for Irene’s family
recipes to gain a reputation for exquisitely delicious
homebaking, of which the reputation is still strong
in today’s market. We are especially famous
for our pies.
Sadly Irene passed away about 6 years ago; however
Irene’s recipes are still very much alive
in Hillyer’s of Lincoln’s homemaking
of today.
Hillyers now employ a staff of 40, including bakers,
chefs, customer service professionals, apprentices,
and baristas.
Our business is still to create exquisite baking, made
with high quality ingredients, hand crafted by people
with passion and pride and supplied to our customers
for their enjoyment.
In 2006 the company was purchased
by Gill Newman who has operated successful businesses
in Canterbury since the mid 80’s.
Hillyers has continued to grow
under Gill’s guidance with our main bakery
in Parkhouse Rd, Sockburn. This bakery supplies
our 4 cafes and a strong catering and wholesale
division.
Our cafes are unique in that they supply 100%
Hillyers product and combine this with fantastic
Hummingbird coffee, in a cafe setting that suits
each locations surroundings.
Our Cafes also have a large selection of café
style menu food that is made freshly on the premises
each day by the in-house chefs.
All cafes cater for functions and take bookings
for regular meetings in their community.
Our breakfast and Brunch menus are always popular
and still include the, “Famous Hillyers
Homestead Breakfast.”
Our Parkhouse
Rd bakery provides all baked items, which are
produced and delivered daily. Our bakeries are
high quality environments, that are air conditioned,
have stringent health and safety policies and
procedures.
We are fortunate to have leaders with passion
in each of our locations and we meet regularly
to share ideas and to keep up to the minute with
the products and service that we supply to you,
our customers.
